Dodge City - Terrance W. "Terry" Perkins, 62, died August 19, 2012 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. He was born on December 1, 1949 at Dodge City, the son of Donald Eugene and Augusta E. (Keenportz) Perkins.

Terry grew up in Dodge City and graduated from Dodge City High School, Dodge City Community College and St. Mary of The Plains College all of Dodge City. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. On June 28, 1975 he married Shari Hardesty in Cimarron. Terry worked at Crustbuster/Speed King Inc. of Dodge City as a purchasing agent and retired two weeks ago. He enjoyed computers, animals, the Kansas City Chiefs and played Santa Claus in the mall for Ford County Humane Society.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church and Ford County Humane Society both of Dodge City.

Terry is survived by his wife, Shari; mother, Augusta Perkins; brother, Rodney Perkins all of Dodge City; sister, Yvonne Hitz of Spearville; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and his "four girls" Aspen, Carrie, Miah and Haley.

He was preceded in death by his father Donald E. Perkins; two nieces, Lisa Murphy and Alanna Owens.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Swaim Funeral Home with Drs. Gary Winget and Jerry Ketner presiding. Entombment will follow at Scroggins Memorial Mausoleum in Dodge City with military graveside rites by Howard Gotschall Post #1714, V.F. W.. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, August 23, 2012 from Noon to 8:00 P.M.. Memorials are suggested to Ford County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
